Cowhide is the most commonly used type of leather. Due to the dense fiber fabric, it has a high strength and resilience. Cowhide is generally so thick that it is usually split in two layers. The upper layer is called full cowhide, the lower layer as cowhide or split leather. Pull-up leather is a dyed-through, soft buff nubuck leather with a so-called fat grip. This is created by applying an oily or waxy layer, which is slowly removed in use. The patina created by the traces of use is intentional and reinforces the typical vintage look.
